Early spring

 

Dear blog guests, thank you for catch my page and stay here for a wile. I am proud to be an owner of page with over 6000 views now. You are the best.

Today I spend about a hour outside. We have weather like in spring now, even normally each year at this time we still have lots of snow, cold and freezing temperatures and strong wind storms with snow. That how casual February looks in Lithuania. But not this year. We have winter almost without a snow, but with very cold temperatures some days. Normal winter took just 3-4 weeks and now is spring. Fogs in the morning, sun in afternoon and still some cold temperatures in the night. But by day I can enjoy first live in the garden. 

 Even daylilies still sleeping, and I can't see them all now, but I am enjoy each green leave in my garden.

My tree peony seedling looks perfect. No damaged buds, and first colors on it. Nice to see how it grows and later pops some green, and maybe some colors with blooms. Just hope.

Spuria irises going green very early, but not so much. Just wish to have no warning of frosts to uncover them from so much leaves of other plants. For now it nice cover if winter want to come back. It protects a little from damages of frosts.

Last autumn I covered all iris rhizomes with dirt and sand, but now they pop out from grass again. Look like babies of Impulsive Imp wanted to show up faster and catch some sun light.

 

I am not a big fan of bulb irises, but last year I buy a package of iris histrioides 'katharine hodgkin'. And they are sprouted. All of them. So nice. Hope to see any blooms of it.

Some years back I have few, but they not survived, this year I try to make some drained soil and maybe protect these.

 

And there is some first blooms from this year. So happy to see them and enjoy it with sunshine. I see how sun play with these blooms.

Flowers on silk flutters

This time (first time in this year) I will post all my silk works ( I think that some will duplicate with those which I already posted, or not). I want to have them in one place and show you my growing in this area. In that case I add photos by date from first ones to today works. Even now I am sketching few daylilies and one iris.

Maybe people already sick about that I am all the time post my silk works and note that I can sell them. So now mention just ones, now. I will write here which ones I have and which ones was sold and who buy it. All the moneys get for my silk works goes to special place where hold for collect bigger count of money and then will place an order of one of nursery. So hope this year we will place one order too.

And her I start my silk work exhibition. As I mention Exhibition, my first paintings on silk was good enough for exhibition. So I paint 6 artworks, teacher frame them and take to youth exhibition in museum.

 This is my very first try to paint on silk. In this photo you see table from school. It is on frames, because only with frames I can dye silk colors on silk. Sketch I take from internet. This was first and the last time when I use someone sketch.

 This is not the second one, but the last of those 6 which teacher exposit in museum.

And here is all three on wall in museum. Nice to see at my artworks with frames and in special place. Then I feel really honored.

This is something newer while looking in those first. From now I show all my silk works where I work by myself, without help or even advices. Just do what I think is good. This feature give me more unique works and free work with silk.

Here is something unusual. In special kit for silk painting, which I got from great my friend was special salt for silk. I wonder how to use it, so paint background and split that salt on it. What a magic happens. With salt I created unique background. But this is first and the last work with salt. I think that I found some other ways to create unique works. (This I gift for my friend) 

 These two is out of the same sketch, but color variation manes it look very unusual. Just form the same. Now both was in States.

 I love this one, because I try to mix two colors on one bloom without using contour for different colors. Look amazing for me. Now in States too.

Well this one is something what worth to say more than just one line. This one I painted as a gift for one great friend, who I can mention like my mentor. William Marchant few years in the row gave me some his left seeds of amazing lines of seedlings. And last year he send amazing seedlings from Rose F. Kennedy. So I decided to make something back to him. I think that William now enjoy this work of his seedling on silk from me.

 And here is my first order for Debbie Friedlander. She asked to paint this one as a gift for her husband. I am sad and a little disappointed of myself, that this look a little different than real Chief Weeder.

 And this is the most warmest gift which I painted. This is for my best friend, great mentor - Claudia Conway. This is her seedling which she very proud. I am also love it very much. So I painted it on silk and gift it.

 These are just few from other order which place great person in daylily world - Mick Morry. He asked to paint 6 daylilies which photos he send to me. All money for them he send directly to Floyd Cove Nursery where Claudia start to place an order. These are first works where I add leaves. Nice looking. Hope Mick and Morry family likes it.

 This is Racing The Moon. Daylily which I dream about and hope that when I sell this can order that daylily. Can't remember if this one is sold, but Racing them Moon I have in my garden now. I can say that in real that variety looks better than in my silk work. And one of the Prism. But for that we have not enough money. Maybe next time.

 This is amazing order from Floyd Cove Nursery owners. They asked to paint these two for extra money for order. I done Staying Alive better than Born to be Wild. But from replay from them I see them both hanging in living room. So that is great honor for small artist to have his paintings in famous persons home.

 This is great art work (photo by C.Conway) which I paint from Floyd Cove introduction to raise some money for order. And I am pleased that this one was sold in lilyauction for my great friend, who work with teeth daylilies - John Kulpa.

This is how it looks when I got inspiration. In one week I done 4 great paintings. Just love them all and hope that these will bring me some money for 2014 order of daylilies.

And this is iris on silk. After long break without painting them on silk I come back and paint one. Just after few minutes when I post it in few Facebook groups people start to comments and say how great it looks. Then I feel really honored to show it and done it so well. So hope that I might can work with irises the same like with daylilies...

 

This is not all my silk works, just a majority. All newer ones I try to post in the end with new comments. Only this can be sure that all my silk works was in one place.

Meeting with President, Paintings and CHRISTMAS

Dear blog readers,

 I see that you not sleeping and regular visit my page. I think this is great. Sorry for all who comment on my blogs, but don't get answers. I try to write them (I can say that one answer I wrote 12 times/not lie/ and when I push a button to confirm it, it will show me that here is a problem and try again), but I read them all and keep them in heart.
And now back to the topic. In December 10 I went in capital of Lithuania, to big event for International contest winners, where President of Lithuania and Minister of Education congratulate us, shake hand and gift a bag and amazing greeting. Here is some photos (photographer Jonas Karolis):

And we all, the team of European Union Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS) 2013 who come from Lithuania to Prague.

 

A great visit in capital and meeting with President make me very proud. But that is not the end. I think this is just a beginning of new journey to bigger works. For Christmas I wish for microscope. I hope Santa will hear my wish and I can explore something more. But I think that Santa will hear other my wish about the phone, because that which I have now have some problems, which can't be fixed for low price. I was good this year, reached a lot, so maybe one of those wish will come true.

 Now you maybe start to think why I wrote the paintings, while I talk only about President and Christmas. Well yes, that is important. But I can happily say, that I done this year in university, now I have a vacations, so that mean I have some free time and when I have it, I let my hands relax with brush and canvas. I add just two photos of my new works:



As you may see they both are blue. That is the color which associate with winter. Blue always mean cold for me, so this painting is frost on canvas. My dad loves it, he take a look on this for about a 15 minutes and try to see something unusual. I did that too.

 

This is great painting, which I done yesterday. This one I paint for my sister, who loves blue color. I just love to see the clouds and this is first serious try to paint them. And I think that I am succeed. The town in this painting is not just my imagination. This is my town from the view, when we go home from grandparents and first view from highway is just like this.

Non garden thing, but about the gardener

 Hello for all,

This time is nothing to do in garden. Even I have no snow here, but rain and strong wind doesn't make outdoors attract me to go in garden. And I have nothing to do now. So I can post something about person who work in that garden - me. Today I mention just recently news, what I do. So begin with last weekend when we light our city Christmas tree with fireworks. In this photo you see our unique Christmas tree, which make from plastic bags only, in back our City Hall and wonderful firework show. That day was great, no wind, rain or snow. That was first year when we go to see this ceremony again. Last time we go here about 10 years back.

"To Edvinas Misiukevičius, 2012-2013 school years European Union contest for young scientists laureate. Kaunas city municipality." This text is on medal which I got yesterday in wonderful ceremony for special city students at City Hall, which is in first photo I posted. This is second medal which I got and now I am proud of those honors and I believe that these gave me more confidence and just make me step up for more works.

Next year I plan two trips to other countries. One is of my EUCYS Special Prize to Joint Research Centre and second to LIYSF (London International Young Scientist Forum). And all summer spend in my gardens (now I have 3: my own, grandmother and one, which I get from university).

Also, next year I plan to do some other interesting activity with daylilies. This time not science article, but just experiment when I try to convert diploid to tetraploid. All winter discovery and read articles and hear other peoples experience in this and then try. Today I got scalpels kit, so I am a half ready :D Just kidding, first I need to found chemicals and read instructions again and again.

That is enough for now. Will go to learn some things for University lectures. I thought that last weeks may be easier, but I was wrong :D

Respect. Inspiration. News.

Dear my blog visitors. I want to thank you all for interest in my blogs. That show number of views. Oh my, 5000 views of my blog this time! This number show me, that here is worth to write and share my garden and my own news. That's what I will do today also.
  I won't be here for long time because as some of you know I was in university. Busy with hard things, news and long lectures. But that is not so boring when I know that when I back home I found my little garden, cactus inside and great memories from summer or past year events. That contest, which was held in Prague give me really a lot. At first respect in university. People start to say hi when saw me, even professors, or heads of university happily shake my hand and talk for a few moments. That was amazing.
Now back to my garden things. In Lithuania we still have no snow (this is not usual), so I still can to go in garden and enjoy very late blooms. That really surprise me when one day, while I go to other building in my yard and seen iris bloom. Then I stoped and stare. That was SDB iris 'Forever Blue'. Other hybridizers say that this iris really blooms for a long time, and was a great rebloomer. But I had no rebloomers in my garden until that day. Also I seen Tricyrtis in bloom. That was a new plant to my garden.

And you may think why I wrote inspiration in topic of this blog. Well as I was very busy, my minds was only on university things I have no time for something else. As like free time when I do some arts. And today, after long and really hard day I back home and feel that I want to do something big. I found one great song, which I listen now still, and then booom. I feel real true inspiration to do some arts. At university I have drawing lectures and here I paint a lot, but that was nothing if I don't want or inspiration was in other way, but not with me. So today I take my old artwork with daylilies in vase (that one, which I really don't like), and cover it with yellow and orange/red acrylic colors and then add few poppy flowers. As a result of it you can see few photos. Sorry for quality, these was taken with phone and in dark room.

 

 

And the last topic is News. In this gap I can say very shortly that I get invitation to meet Lithuanian president in special even for International contests winners. That will be great even. And I see our president again.
